The scientists' new study reveals that in order to avert a more than 2 Celsius (3,6F) increase in temperature we HAVE to emit less than one trillion CO2 into the atmosphere between 2000 and 2050. Where do we stand now: We have already emitted a whopping third of this portion in the last nine years. That is not good. Alas, everyone looks at America with a dreamy thought about entrepreneurism, big cars, big homes and huge refrigerators. It's the dream of many developing countries to live like us. They want to have, what we have had for such a long time. And now that we have to cut back, these countries still want to live out the American dream, the way of life they so admire. Yikes! We cannot afford to have more people live like us. It's time to get realistic about our bubble that burst when our economy went under. I believe we already have had a glimpse of what this world should really rely on. God gave us a gift. Our fragile home, our planet Earth. We show Him how grateful we are by how we treat this gift. We have a lot to learn. We have to stop lamenting and start acting. Reducing our fossil fuel consumption is a vital step in saving our biosphere. How much would you pay for a breathing, livable planet? Well, we are called to be stewards, not conquerors. A sense of urgency is vital to bring us out of this dilemma that will effect our children and our grand children even more than our own generation. They will have their say about what we have done. They will be judges on our actions or non actions. Animals don't sit around and dream about the future. They don't contemplate about art, music or even going to Church. We are the species with a conscience and we have one more big advantage that could save us all: Our imagination. What if....
